Basketball Play - France U17 Men - Circle Motion

France U17 Men - Circle Motion

Justin Schueller 08/08/2016

With the Australian Boomers win over the French national team I thought I would put up my favorite play from the French U17 mens team. We played the French team in pre world competition losing to them by 1 point on a shot at the buzzer. This action which we called "cirlce motion" was very effective at allowing them to have multiple scoring options while being hard for us to negate defencively. I like the action to create uncontested threes and/or in situations you want some time off the clock before on ball play. See More

Basketball Play - Chicago Bulls - Wedge Cross

Chicago Bulls - Wedge Cross

Matt Wheeler 08/01/2016

The Chicago Bulls summer league team ran this variation of the Wedge play to get the ball inside for a post up play. Frequently teams try to get the ball into the post on the initial side of the floor after the screen from 2. In this play 2 pops out to receive the pass from 1 after he sets his screen. 4 and 3 set simultaneous screens to get 5 open in the post and to free up 2 to make the post entry pass to him. See More

Basketball Play - Houston Rockets - Reverse Logo PNR

Houston Rockets - Reverse Logo PNR

Matt Wheeler 07/28/2016

The Houston Rockets ran this play to open their summer league game against Golden State. It provides an opportunity to get the ball inside the paint early in the game with options to kick the ball out to shooters. As the ball is reversed 4 sets a cross screen for 2 who posts up in the logo area. 3 sets a brush screen for 5 who follows up with a pick & roll for 2. See More

Basketball Play - Brazil - Handback Flare

Brazil - Handback Flare

Matt Wheeler 08/08/2016

Brazil ran this set multiple times in their preliminary game against Lithuania to get open looks for their wing players. The handoff flare screen combination proved difficult to guard. When it was defended successfully, Brazil ran a ball screen option to get their point guard in a position to attack the paint. See More

Basketball Play - Lithuania - Choice Side PNR

Lithuania - Choice Side PNR

Matt Wheeler 08/08/2016

Lithuania frequently uses this play to get into a side ball screen action. They place the player who they want in the ball screen (2) under the basket so they can come off of a screen on either side. On the pass to 2, 3 screens for the post player on the opposite side so his defender will be late in defending the ball screen. Lithuania likes to play in a spread pick & roll situation so they then lift the 4 up above the 3 point line. This way 1 can look for 5 rolling to the basket or any of the 3 shooters spaced outside the 3 point line. See More

Basketball Play - Spain - Elevator Horns

Spain - Elevator Horns

Matt Wheeler 08/09/2016

Spain often runs a unique entry into their Horns sets. They start with an elevator screen for 3, which gets him the ball in the top of the key area. 1 & 2 then cut to the corners to get into the Horns formation. They have different options depending on who sets the ball screen. If 5 sets the screen, he rolls to the basket and 4 pops. If 4 sets the screen, he immediately goes off of a flare screen from 5. If nothing is available 5 follows the ball for a pick & roll. Blog Post: Offensive Actions Breakdown - Elevator Screens See More

Basketball Play - Nigeria - Chin Reverse Duck In

Nigeria - Chin Reverse Duck In

Matt Wheeler 08/16/2016

Nigeria ran this option out of the Chin set on consecutive plays to open their game against Lithuania. This is a great way to start out attacking the paint and put the ball in your post player's hands. Nigeria was able to draw a foul on the first possession and get a layup on the second one to start the game. See More
