Basketball Play - New York Knicks - DHO Cross Punch

New York Knicks - DHO Cross Punch

Matt Wheeler 10/08/2016

The New York Knicks ran this as their opening play in their preseason game against the Houston Rockets. The Knicks used the pinch post action that is common to the triangle offense. They followed with a dribble handoff to get the ball back in 1's hands. 2 then set a cross screen for 5 (Porzingas) to get the ball into the post. See More

Basketball Play - Rebounding Drills and Coverages

Rebounding Drills and Coverages

Rory Hamilton 08/03/2016

If a shot comes from the corner we are vulnerable on the weak side boards, so we must run our keeper to the weak side boards to help the pusher. Statistically, 7/10 will bounce weak side so we must attack the weak side boards. The clogger must spin and get to the block and box out that area. If a shot is taken from the wing, we form a triangle with our X1 Warrior going to either pinch in the post or go to weak side. We try as much as possible to form a rebounding triangle. See More

Basketball Play - Middle Tennessee - Ballscreen Motion

Middle Tennessee - Ballscreen Motion

Gibson Pyper 03/19/2016

This is what Middle Tennessee runs behind what they run. Any set that is run, or does not create a scoring chance typically flows right into this or they can get into this quickly with multiple scoring options off of it. When run all the way through you can have an option for a backdoor, dribble hand off, duck in off ball reversal, and then the triangle corner pick and roll action. See More

Basketball Play - David Blatt Horns 1 Set Play

David Blatt Horns 1 Set Play

Scott Peterman 02/19/2015

David Blatt been around the Israeli and Euroleague basketball circuit. Including coaching for Maccabi Tel Aviv (they de bezt, alweyz de bezt) and the Russian National Team (Kirilenko, Mozgov, Shved). He coached Anthony Parker back into the NBA. Names don't exactly get the point across, but let it be known, that he has coached winning teams, almost exclusively. And thats the point of the game. From what I can gather Blatt's teams run a lot through a horns offense. Which, if you don't know, puts two guys- one on either- high post (witch's nipple), two guys in opposite corner/wings and starts with the ball handler at the top of the key. It is not a triangle offense, but it does revolve around cerebral players creating space with passing, smart cutting and good footwork. Certainly a proprietor of the Triangle has respect for this, a verySpurs-y set of offensive goals. Everybody needs touches to make this kitten purr. Everyone needs to fill the open spaces that relate to their skill set, and everyone must become a threat when they have the ball. Basketball Play - "Gaps" Conceptual Zone Offense

"Gaps" Conceptual Zone Offense

Matt Hackenberg 12/03/2021

In today’s diagram and embedded video we look at a zone offense scheme we called “Gaps.” We simply aligned in a 1-3-1 and used concepts to attack zone defense. We used this as our base zone offense, meaning when we saw zone, we automatically went to this concept unless I overrode it with another call. The concpet is very simple, and the details of execution are what's going to make or break the success of this concept. I liked to use this, and pair it with a set package of 4-5 plays as our zone offense playbook.
