Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Indiana Pacers ran this UCLA set in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals versus the Miami Heat. This play gives three scoring options in the UCLA cut, the post up, and the down-screen. The Miami Heat did a very good job guarding this action so the Pacers ended up running a middle ballscreen late in the clock. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawLast night in their exciting Game 2 matchup with the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals, the San Antonio Spurs ran this pick & pop action to open up the floor with several options to score. As I have preached quite a bit recently, I love screening bigs into pick & rolls. What makes this play so special is that it allowed Duncan to pop to the elbow for one of his go-to shots. Additionally, the Spurs screened in for hot shooting Danny Green for a possible look from the deep corner. Not only did this screen for Green give them another scoring option, but it took some of the help out of the paint in the even Parker turned the corner to get to the rim. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis play is designed for an undersized team. Took this from a scout on a non-conference opponent that was in the NJCAA top 10 in the country in points per game this past season. Our opponent played a fast-paced game similar to Iona in the past years. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawA set that the knicks used to start game 6 vs the Pacers. They ran this set for Carmelo and he got an easy jumper at the ft line. The key is that the 4 man has to cut to the rim and then slow down to make his defender relax before he comes off the pindown. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawEarlier today I posted an action from the New York Knicks that involved a horns staggered pick & roll. Later in this game they ran this similar play but Carmelo decided to keep the ball and use the pick & roll himself. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis play offers three good looks to score. First option is 1 using the on ball screen to penetrate into the paint to scroe. Two, 3 gets open with screens from 2 and 5. On 3's catch, 5 continues across the lane to screen for 2 for quick shot. Additional action can be designed if 1 reverses to 4. Give it a try! See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawIn an attempt to get Amar'e Stoudamire going during his limited minutes, Mike Woodson had the New York Knicks ran this post-up action several times last night in their win over the Indiana Pacers in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals. Spreading the floor our the way the Knicks did made this action difficult to run and would be an excellent option if you have a dominant post player on your team. By using Jason Kidd to set the screen on Stoudemire, you make the defense make a decision to switch or help and recover. In my opinion, switching is not even an option. By helping and recovering, the defense arrives late and allows the post player to catch and make a move towards the rim quicker. See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawOlympiacos ran this set with less than two minutes left in the first half of their Euroleague semi final win over CSKA. It is a relatively simple play, with the guards looping to set up a side ball screen, but the corner drift and flare from 4 to 1 kept the weak side defense occupied to free up the roll man. 2 could have passed to 3 in the corner, 1 coming off the flare, 4 slipping a screen, 4 stepping out after setting the screen, or 5 could have popped after setting the screen. Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is another play that is run frequently by Greg McDermott at Creighton. This set play is unique because it is run from a 2-3 high set with 1 and 2 at top so that 2 can eventually receive the stagger screen later in the play (this can be done out of a 4-out 1-in set by having the trailing big exchange with the weak side guard). This is a great way for you to get your team opportunities for easy 2's or a 3 pointer from the top of the key. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawI am sure I have posted this play in the past but it is one of my favorites so I wanted to post it again! The Golden State Warriors went to this action in the 1st Half of Game 4 versus the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Semi-Finals. This elbow set into a flex action is very popular in the NBA; Stan Van Gundy ran it religiously in Orlando. While us coaches are all very familiar with the Flex, I have learned recently that many young players today are not familiar with how to run the play NOR guard it. In my opinion, if you have two great scorers on the floor, this is a very difficult action to guard. The defense has to respect the flex cut give up a lay-up. Then by pinning down on the screener, the defense must make a decision how to guard and if they over-react the big will be open slipping to the rim. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is a play that is a staple in Greg McDermott's offense at Creighton. This is a set that they go to when they are being pressured heavily by the defense. This set is effective because the ball is constantly changing sides of the floor, which in turn moves the defense into positions where they are vulnerable. This is a great set if you want to get the ball into the post and play inside out. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawMonday night in their Game 4 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, the Oklahome City Thunder ran this action for a pick & roll. Throughout the game the Thunder continued to put Memphis into pick & roll situations with a shooter spaced away to force the defense to make a decision. This time, but moving Durant over top, X4 had to respect the cut for a moment which forced the defense to be a tad late on the pick & roll. Furthermore, the Memphis defense decided to stay home on 2 (Sefolosha) which allowed Ibaka to be open on the roll. See More
