Basketball Play - Miami Iverson Sprint Screen

Miami Iverson Sprint Screen

Kevin Bruinsma 07/16/2013

The Miami Heat loved to enter their offense with a dribble handoff into an iverson cut. This set ends with the 2 who set a screen in the iverson cut, cracking back to set a ball screen for #6 Lebron James to an open side of the floor. Using the screen to get deep then the 4 who set the last screen in the iverson cut comes and sets a ball screen at a really deep angle. Tough to defend. See More

Here is the best stuff from the San Antonio Spurs in their 4-0 series sweep over the Memphis Grizzlies in the Western Conference Finals. There are quite a few plays as I wanted to be able to give you the Spurs playbook of their most successful actions and offensive sets. To best enjoy and learn from these play diagrams I recommend that you watch the video which is linked below as all of the diagrams are listed in order with the video clips. See More

Basketball Play - 5 on 4 Rotation Shell

5 on 4 Rotation Shell

Kyle Gilreath 05/31/2013

This is a drill that I love to run throughout the season to help enforce my defensive philosophy when it comes to helping on baseline penetration. My defensive philosophy is to keep the ball out of the middle of the floor. WIth that said, when the ball is in the corner I teach my players to direct the ball handler to the baseline halfway in between the 3-point line and lane line. Furthermore, the help needs to come early enough outside the lane and cut off the basket and the baseline. This is a 5 out drill because that is the style of offense we currently run. If you are guarding a team in the post, I NEVER help off the post because it opens up easy lay-ups. That is why is it vital for your help defenders to be aware and in the correct positions early. This is also a great drill that teaches your players how to scramble in defensive situations after cutting off the baseline. Make sure the coach passes to different players througout the drill to enforce the level of urgency and communication in such scrambles. Have your players move the ball around the perimeter and run the offense several times through before passing to the coach. See More

Basketball Play - Point of Board Shooting

Point of Board Shooting

Daniel Murphy 04/25/2013

I got this drill from Dr. Hal Wissel, former assistant coach to Hubie Brown with the Memphis Grizzlies. He uses it at his Shoot it Better mini camps. It is very similar to the Navy Shooting drill Bert DeSalvo shared with Fastmodel http://www.fastmodelsports.com/library/basketball/fastdraw/1567/play-Navy-Shooting This drill will show the shooter when their mechanics are perfect. After focusing on a target as small as the point of the backboard, the rim seems much larger. Dr. Wissel believes in doing this 100 times per day. I have my players shoot 10 perfect shots before moving on to the next drill. See More

Basketball Play - Tiger

Tiger

John Leonzo 04/17/2013

Here is a play that was given to me by a high school coach from Pennsylvania. This set is great because it gives your best scorer (3 in this set) multiple options for a good shot. Hopefully you can find it to be an effective play! See More

Basketball Play - "Ear Pull" - Kansas High/Low Post Entry - Backscreen Lob

"Ear Pull" - Kansas High/Low Post Entry - Backscreen Lob

Bert DeSalvo 01/26/2013

Kansas ran this entry into offense against Texas at the 17:15 mark of the first half of their game on 1/19/13. Kansas usually runs a similar set with a backdoor, flare screen (for PG), then the posts double down for the opposite wing who point guard replaced off the flare. This "ear pull" was a variation on that set that Bill Self has had so much success with over the years at Kansas. If the lob is not there, this set can easily flow into KU's high/low offense See More
