Basketball Play - 1-4 High: Push Moon

1-4 High: Push Moon

Matt Hackenberg 01/24/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a set play out of a 1-4 high alignment. I like this action because it keeps the defense busy with action on both sides of the court. Obviously you need a great decision maker to handle the ball in this action. In this diagram and video clip we see a series of plays from the push zip Iverson movement series. The featured action in the video is the blind pig backdoor. This is a clever action, and with good timing it can be very tough to defend. Basketball Play - Horns: Push Slice STS

Horns: Push Slice STS

Matt Hackenberg 12/25/2021

In this diagram and video clip we see a set out of a horns alignment. The set wants the defense to help on the screen in the paint, so that they are late getting through the screen-the-screener action. Against switching defenses, 5 wants to screen their own defender to free up the shooter. Video below. Basketball Play - Horns: Push Gate Series

Horns: Push Gate Series

Matt Hackenberg 12/22/2021

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a set play series out of a horns alignment. The dribble push enters the set. The first two options are slipping the gate screen, and turning the corner on the dribble push for a clear out. The next option is using the gate screen, which goes into a pin or flare option, similar to a blocker/mover action. Video below. Basketball Play - Push Zip Iverson Series

Push Zip Iverson Series

Matt Hackenberg 12/07/2021

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a series of plays that all play off of each other. The series uses the same movement pattern to make it difficult for the defense to understand what is going to happen through scouting. Some of the these actions are pretty clever! Basketball Play - Push Zip Iverson Series

Push Zip Iverson Series

Matt Hackenberg 11/23/2021

This is a series of plays that all originate out of the same basic movement pattern. The movement pattern masks the outcome of the play to help against teams that are well prepared through scouting. The series of plays is designed to feature a dynamic soring point guard. The push zip iverson action helps create safe movement against teams that like to pressure. I like the series of plays because it allows for creativity from a dynamic player (the side ball screen), looks for cheap points (blind pig and backdoor), and gets a shooter a a good look for three in a crafty way. Zone Quick Hitter - Dribble Push

Michael Lynch 11/13/2018

Here is a way to incorporate a dribble drive attack into your zone offense. Using a wing dribble entry, we shift the defense to the ball side, then set a backside ball screen to create a 2/1 on the backside. Basketball Play - 5 Out Motion Offense: Middle Push Reads

5 Out Motion Offense: Middle Push Reads

KJ Smith 08/14/2018

The following reads are made in both the primary and secondary break. They can be the building blocks of an entire offensive system while developing the IQ and skill sets of your players. Circle: Corner player cuts to the rim as the wing player fades towards the corner for a shot. Drop: Wing player dives to the rim as the corner player lifts up to the wing for a shot. Down: Wing down screen towrads the corner where that player may fill up to the rim for a shot as well as curl or backdoor cut to the rim. The screener will either slip to the rim or pop out to the perimeter. Up: Corner lifts up to flare screen for the wing before slipping to the basket. The cutter may also curl to the rim. If the flare screener does not slip to the basket, they may sprint to the ball for a dribble handoff. See More

Basketball Play - Milwaukee Bucks - Push Corner

Milwaukee Bucks - Push Corner

Austin Anderson 06/26/2018

Milwaukee had one of the most athletic lineups in the NBA last season. The Bucks were successful when they were able to play through Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton. Giannis is extremely gifted with size and athleticism, which gives him the ability to finish easily in and around the paint. Middleton was exceptional in post ups, moving off screens, and improved his pick/roll play. Milwaukee's corner offense provides multiple options in a set. Push Corner has a back screen to post option, and a side ball screen/ weak side pin option. At anytime, Eric Bledsoe and Malcolm Brogdon can slip the corner cut for a basket if teams anticipate the play call. See More

Basketball Play - Boston Celtics - Early Offense - Push Action

Boston Celtics - Early Offense - Push Action

Austin Anderson 05/19/2018

The Celtics possess one of the most skilled and interchangeable rosters of the NBA. This post provides several variations of Boston's Push Action. This early offense is designed to create a 2 man game on either side of the court. Rozier, Smart, Brown or Tatum can occupy any perimeter spot. Horford, Morris, Tatum, Baynes or Monroe can play the 4/5 spots. This action creates pick/roll, pick/pop, and drive/kick opportunities.
