Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a wrinkle from the Golden State Warriors "Fist Up" play that they normally run as an EOQ/EOH action. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a wrinkle from the Boston Celtics "4" action in early offense. Instead of 1 (Isaiah Thomas) following his pass for a handoff after throwing it to 4 and attacking downhill with his left, 4 fakes the handoff and passes to 3 lifting up to the wing on the right side. 1 & 4 set a stagger screen for 2. Favorite Send to FastDrawThis Hawk set is a wrinkle from the Cleveland Cavaliers "Hawk Stagger" action when X2 denies 2 cutting to the basket off of the back screen. Instead of 2 cutting off of the weakside stagger screen from 4 & 5, he sets a double ball-screen with 3 for 1. As 1 attacks off of the ball screen, 3 rolls to the short corner and 5 sets a down screen for 4 as X5 is zoning up to help on the penetration and roll. 1 has option driving it to the basket, passing to 3 on the roll, 2 "shaking" behind 3's roll or drive-and-kick to 4 (Kevin Love) exiting to the wing. Favorite Send to FastDrawMississippi State (W) ran this action against South Carolina in the 2017 Women's Basketball National Championship game. 2 cutting to the basket and exiting to the corner is false action as this force X4 to help. As X4 helps, 5 screens in for 4 for a catch on the wing. If X5 hedges, 5 can slip to the basket or duck-in for a post-up on 4's catch. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawSouth Carolina ran this BLOB action for P.J. Dozier against Gonzaga in the 2017 NCAA Final Four. The first option is to hit the cutter on the backcut versus the overplay/denial. If the passer cannot hit the backcut, the action flows into a dribble handoff then the stagger screen for back cutter on the strong-side for an open 3-point shot. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawWith 6:42 to go in the 1st quarter, Mississippi State ran this 1-4 high set to get multiple options, one being a post iso, the other being a wide open 3 at the top. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawWith 5:57 left in their Final Four matchup with Stanford, Coach Dawn Staley called this Horns set to get a quick high low for their 3 player who was being guarded by a smaller defender. South Carolina loves to run their high low action with A'Ja Wilson and Alaina Coates, but with Coates nursing an injury, they had to turn to an unconventional high low action to keep it rolling. Favorite Send to FastDrawThe San Antonio Spurs beat the defending NBA Champion, Cleveland Cavaliers, by 29 points. There was a lot working. This set was my favorite, as it has multiple scoring options. The Spurs stack two players weakside, to make it look like Kawhi Leonard (3) will come off of a weakside down screen. Instead, he sets a baseline cross screen, in a great screen-the-screener action. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawIn a game against the San Antonio Spurs, the Cleveland Cavaliers ran this box set. It resulted in a layup for Kyrie Irving. It was one of the few things that went well for the Cavs on this night, as the Spurs cruised to an easy victory. This set allows Kyrie to get down hill, but what makes the set so effective is the positioning of the Cavs personnel. Don't be surprised to see this, in a key moment, in this year's NBA playoffs. Favorite Send to FastDrawNorth Carolina uses this BLOB play to get looks at multiple scoring options. They start with a backscreen for a layup and the elevator screen for a shot. If those options aren't available the ball gets reversed and the Tar Heels get into a screen the screener action. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawWest Virginia used this Princeton type action last night against Gonzaga in their Sweet 16 match-up. Carter runs off the FT line screen into a double stagger looking to catch & shoot off the pass from the TOK. If there's no shot, he has the option to throw inside and the 5 man's down screen or exchange with 3 can also lead to a Hi / Lo off the wing pass to the FT Line area. The play closes with a corner ball screen action when the post has no attack option to the basket and the PG makes the read shooting behind the screen. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis set is one of my favorites of the 2017 NCAA Tournament. There are numerous scoring opportunities, as it is a combination of multiple actions. Xavier ran this set in their Sweet 16 game, against Arizona. The set resulted in a wide open three point attempt. The play gets a ball reversal, has a shuffle cut, double stagger screen, and flows into Floppy action. Great stuff by Coach Mack! See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawKansas ran this play in consecutive possesions in their game against Purdue. The play started out with some false motion using two ball screens out of the Horns set. 5 then set the pindown screen for 3 so he can get a shot or create for his teammates. See More
