The Oklahoma City Thunder summer league team used this SLOB play to get 1 the opportunity to create off of a ball screen. The Thunder are able to get the ball inbounded easiliy by using 5 as the outlet, since most teams won't deny passes aggressively with their 5's. Once the ball is inbounded, 1 cuts around 5 to receive a handoff. 1 then looks to create off of the ball screen from 5. See More

The Dallas Mavericks were tied with 4.1 seconds left in the 2017 Orlando NBA Summer League championship game and unable to advance the ball to the front court with a timeout. They ran this play to get 1 the ball on the run to get a look at a shot. The Pistons defended this by not playing x4 on the ball and keeping him at halfcourt to shadow the ball handler. This slowed down 1, but he was still able to get off a shot as time expired. See More

The Dallas Mavericks used the SLOB play with the score tied and 6.7 seconds left in the 2017 Orlando NBA Summer League championship game against the Detroit Pistons. The Mavericks only needed a 2 and were looking for an opportunity to attack the basket for a layup, foul, or create an open shot. 1 occupied his defender by staying in the backcourt, creating more space for 4 to attack off the handoff. 4 drove to the basket and created a shot for 5 for the game winning shot. The Philadelphia 76ers summer league team used this end of game SLOB play to get Markell Fultz the ball in an isolation situation down 1 with 5.7 seconds left in the game. 2 (Fultz) rejects the screen from 4 and receives the pass in the corner with all other players at the free throw line or above, giving him good spacing to attack 1 on 1 for the final shot. Golden State Warriors - Zipper Iverson Step Up

Matt Wheeler 06/10/2017

The Golden State Warriors started the third quarter of Game 4 of the NBA Finals with a concerted effort to get Steph Curry (1) the ball in ball screen situations. After Curry gets the pass off the zipper screen, Klay Thompson (2) makes a decoy Iverson cut off of 5 & 4. This clears the defense to the weak side of the floor and forces x5 to provide help, making him late in the ball screen coverage. See More
