Favorite Send to FastDrawToday's FastDraw Play of the Day is "1 Hook Double". Screen the screener into a ball screen with a guard coming off a stagger! See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis Texas Seconary Action was run by the Longhorns against Kansas State. There is a lot of ball screening action in this set, plus the use of the stagger early on gives the offense a chance for an early shot. Rick Barnes has done a masterful job rebuilding the Longhorns offense this year and this set shows the number of options which can ben executed in a Secondary Offense. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis play starts with X action off the high post. First option is for 3 to pass to the corner and cut to the post for post up. 2 drives ball to the wing and 1 uses 4 and 5 off staggered screen to get open for shot. Give it a try! See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawYou can take advantage of the multiple scoring opportunities within this set and run it several possessions in a row and get different shots each time. The pinch-double is great early action for your best shooter and by running the Iverson screen for your point-guard, you get the ball back into the hands of your best ball handler prior to attacking off the ball screens. Favorite Send to FastDrawThere are many options off this simple set. Look to get the ball to the post initially. Then other options occur. See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawBox Flare Drop is an end game SLOB play that gets a layup for your best post player. With 5-10 seconds left and needing only a two-pointer, the play starts in a box formation with a shooter starting on the opposite block. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawGame winning play drawn up by Philadelphia 76er's in their win over the Brooklyn Nets. Evan Turner was the 2 in this situation. 5's man has to be careful to not get too close to 5 as 5 pops to the elbow, or 5 could back cut to the basket. Giving a cushion allows the ball to be inbounded. 4-2 screen is tough to switch, as is 5-2 dribble hand off. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawSyracuse ran this half-court action last night versus Indiana in the Sweet 16. This play was run to get Brandon Triche open on the wing. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawKevin Ollie may be a young Coach, but his tactical skills are outstanding. Bringing a wealth of experience with him from his playing days both at UCONN and in the NBA, the Huskies sets are well designed with lots of movement and screening actions. This 1-4 set play has three scoring options and is predicated on the ability of the players to "read" the defense. Kevin Ollie is buidling the Huskies back into a contender again after the masterful job Jim Calhoun did in his tenure at the Connecticut school. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawChicago ran this play in their game 3 win over Brooklyn. Deng had a mismatch and Chicago looked to exploit it from the sideline out of bounds play. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Box & One defense is a very common way to shut down a star player. You can use the following play, if your point guard is the one being guarded one on one. Your big man becomes the main threat easily. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis Butler University set is from the 2010-2011 season, which was frequently ran for Zach Hahn (2) and Matt Howard (4). See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawA very good set from UWGB. Simple horns with flex action that most teams run. What makes this play work is the downscreen into a dho. 1 can turn the corner into space and have a shooter in the corner. The stagger for the 2 man coming back out is a good finish to the play. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawDuring Christmas Day action, the Washington Wizards ran this excellent twist pick & roll action that freed up Wall for an easy mid-range jumper. Having two shooters spaced in each corner opened up the middle alley and allowed Wall & company to run this play very efficiently. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Portland Trailblazers ran this set in their overtime loss to the Indiana Pacers on February 7, 2014. The Blazers were looking to get Wesley Matthews posted up on a smaller defender (George Hill). The second option is to bring Damian Lilliard off of a staggered double for a possible 3-pointer. The staggered double also serves a secondary purpose in that it occupies all three of their defenders making it difficult for them to help on Matthews posting up. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawBaseline out of bounds play ran by the CT in their 66-62 loss to the Mystics 6/7/13. The play starts off with a familiar box set action. Often when 4 passes to 1, 4 would screen the screener. The Sun flipped the down screeners, having a big screen a little into the lane. Usually a little will screen a big into the lane. This change allowed 2 to run the baseline coming off of 4 and 5's screens. Having the bigs screen the guard on the baseline should prevent a switch. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Florida Gators ran this Horns action in their Southeastern Conference opening win vs South Carolina. I have seen this play run recently but what I liked about this action was how 4 cleaned up the action at the end with the staggered pick & roll. Spacing 2 and 3 in the corners allows for an open/spaced floor for 5 to sprint to the rim while 1 tries to create. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis play was run by the New Orleans Pelicans on their opening night against the Indiana Pacers. Zip 54 Rub is designed to get Anthony Davis an open wing jumper, using his athleticism and comfort on the perimeter to throw off his post defender. Most post defenders aren't used to going over handoffs or screens, and this pattern that Davis runs forces them to do so. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawDrill stolen from Coach Bob Hurley of St. Anthony H.S. He in turn got it from Dick Harter. As a rule the player who defensive rebounds or takes the ball out of bounds after a score is on offense and the old offense always converts to defense. This is similar to 11 man break or other 3-3 drills where the defense comes in from the sideline, but in my opinion is a little more practical because the defense had to convert from offense and is in a more realistic game scenario. Many successful coaches believe transition defense is one of the top 3 skills a team must have. As such, defensive transition should be drilled daily. A note about drills-make sure to teach the skills you want. Stopping the ball, protecting the basket, communicating, screening, passing, cuttining etc. You can play this drill for a set amount of time ie. 8 minutes and keep score. Depending on what you as a coach want to emphasize, points can be given or taken for offensive rebounds, turnovers etc. Because it is 3-3 conversion, a short clock can be used to promote an aggressive offensive attack. Favorite Send to FastDrawThe New York Knicks ran this action this week in their win over the Golden State Warriors. This play was designed as an iso for Carmelo Anthony but with the defense focusing on the 1-on-1 action the Knicks players do a tremendous job cutting to open areas on the floor. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Embry-Riddle Eagles ran this quick action last night for a 3. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawToday's FastDraw Play of the Day is a sideline out of bounds play to get a quick shot from the arc. Use this in late game or short clock situations where a 3 is needed. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawA great BLOB that Clemson ran late in the season for an easy layup. THe key is timing with the 2 and 4 cutting off 5. 5 can slip his screen on 5 or he can roll hard against the switch. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawToday's FastDraw Play of the Day is P & R 1-on-1. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawQuick hitter where you can iso the 3 man at the elbow and then have your best shooter coming off a stager on the backside. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is an entry that Marquette ran last year and I liked how the action could turn into different options to finish. Depending on players you could run any of these options and have a good scoring opportunities. See More
