Basketball Play - Continuous Shooting

Continuous Shooting

FastModel Sports 01/27/2015

This drill is all about getting shots up. Split your team into two groups at separate baskets, each side with four balls. Start with one line at the top of the key and another on the baseline. Each line has two balls. The player on the baseline starts by curling to the wing 10-15 feet from the basket. They receive a pass from the first player in the other line and proceed to take a jump shot and get their own rebound. Once a player makes the pass they curl to the wing for their own shot, receiving a pass from the next player in the opposite line. Each player gets their own rebound and returns to the opposite line from where they started. Each player gets two shots at each shooting position (left wing, top of the key, right wing) before the lines move to the next position. The drill is completed when the players shoot from each position (left wing, top of the key, right wing) two times. The teams at each basket are competing for the most makes…losing team runs. Basketball Play - L, O, I

L, O, I

Randall Edens 07/15/2013

Today's Entry is a Baseline Out of Bounds series of plays using 'Letter's' to not only communicate the play, but help with set up as well. Furthermore, we incorporate sign language here to disguise but to also teach our players a life long skill that is effective for play thieves who watch a lot of film. Plus, we have found it helps with our players focus in these situations believe or not so ENJOY. Frame 1 + 2 = " L " , Frame 3 + 4 = " O ", and Frame 5 + 6 = " I " I released a Stack series a few days ago... more BLOB's to come. Basketball Play - MSU BLOB Double

MSU BLOB Double

Dana Beszczynski 11/18/2013

This BLOB was run by MSU to get their PG Trice a shot off the inbounds action. What made this possible was the miscommunication between the two defenders guarding Harris & Trice. They got caught in a switch and Trice's defender got pinned behind the screen giving the inbounder a clear pass off the double screen to the shooter. See More

Basketball Play - Loop 2 & Shooting Breakdown

Loop 2 & Shooting Breakdown

Daniel Murphy 08/02/2013

Simple entry into a side ball screen. If you are fortunate enough to have some assistant coaches or managers and can have them pass, then you can run through your offense and get game spot shots at the same time. Be creative and I'm sure you can find a way to make a shooting drill out of your 5-0 offense. This will save you time and get players realistic shots within the offense. See More

Basketball Play - Side Quick Twist

Side Quick Twist

Kyle Gilreath 11/08/2013

Last night I tweeted that Doc Rivers is one of the greatest ATO coaches of all time; this play is a big reason why. He drew up this play during a timeout late in the 4th quarter versus the Miami Heat. This play is so effective, yet very simple to run and provides multiple scoring opportunities. As 1 (CP3) received the dribble hand-off from 4 (Griffin), he has 3 main options: 1. Pull-up jumper or attack the rim 2. Drive and force X3 to help and kick out to 3 for a catch & shoot 3. Drive and look to kick out to 2 in the corner if X2 rotates to the lane. See More

Basketball Play - SLOB - Back Screen with Hand Off

SLOB - Back Screen with Hand Off

Basketball HQ 02/08/2013

This is a good SLOB play with multiple options and reads. You want to have your best guard taking the ball out that way he has the option to cut off the back screen or refuse the back screen and get a hand off. Once you have burned the team off of the back screen you have the counter action to have the guard taking the ball out of bounds to use the hand off with the same weakside flare action. See More
