Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Denver Nuggets took advantage of their versatile lineup on this play during a 117-85 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on November 27th. It takes principles of a basic "pass and cut" motion offense, along with dribble penetration and pick and roll concepts. It starts out with passes and cuts, but then Jamal Murray (1) cuts back while Nikola Jokic (5) screens, starting a pick and roll action off after Murray receives a pass from Paul Millsap (3). This confuses the Lakers defense, which does not switch, and LeBron James, who is defending 4, is late on the rotation leading to a layup for Murray. The advantage of having bigs that can shoot is that if LeBron rotated earlier, Murray could've passed to either Juan Hernangomez (4) or Malik Beasley (2) in the corner for a catch and shoot opportunity. Sharing the ball forces the defenders to make decisions. The more decisions that have to be made, the more chances for an error that an offense can take care of. Having versatile players like the Nuggets do makes those defensive decisions so much tougher (do I stay on my guy and perhaps leave him open for a 3? Do I help?), which can often lead to these late rotations and result in buckets. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThese two drills are focused on teaching athletes to time their crash on the boards early and using swim moves to get around box outs. Use these drills in-season when you want to build habits without overloading your athletes. Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a very simple yet effective set to get your point guard and big in a middle ball screen using some false motion. The essence of good offense is get two guarding one, and attack the advantage and this set does that extremely quickly. Check out the video below! FMS Blog: Maui Invitational - Top 10 Plays See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawRebounding drill to work on using a fully extended arm to tip the ball out when a player is boxed out or not in position. The progression is working on reacting to the flight of the ball and extending the players arms to the side as well as up, to corral rebounds that are outside of the player's area. Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is an incredibly hard set to guard. Great action leading to an empty middle ball screen and if 1's defender is tagging the pick and roll like he should be, 1 will either be open on the throwback or 5 will be wide open at the rim. See the video below. Highly recommend watching Coach Few's teams play with scratch paper handy or FastDraw open! FMS Blog: Maui Invitational - Top 10 Plays See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is one of my all time favorite sets! There are several looks that Gonzaga bypasses in favor of the post up. This set when run fully has a guard mismatch post up opportunity, lob look, stretch post 3, double pin downs for shooters, seal post ups for those screeners, and then ball screen with throwback action. See these options in the video below. I highly recommend adding this set to your playbook. Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a great clear out set if you have an athletic big/wing that can go catch this pass. A big key to this is 3 staying opposite lane line to maintain an angle on the pass. Hit play on the video below to see the action. FMS Blog: Maui Invitational - Top 10 Plays See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawGreat set using a misdirection guard cut and great spacing to set up a cross screen to punch the ball inside. Check out the video below! An easy addition to this would be a screen the screener action for 1 after setting the cross screen. FMS Blog: Maui Invitational - Top 10 Plays See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a great set to overload the defense. We teach our guys daily to create triangles against the zone. This set puts the defense in a bind of who to guard. Video included after the diagrams. FMS Blog: Maui Invitational - Top 10 Plays See More
