Bill Self started the game really looking to get his guys involved in the Offense early. This is a nice Flare /DBL Screen action they ran for Graham looking to get him off from behind the arc. The play is made by Bragg who leaves the shoulder-to-shoulder double by stepping out in the way of Grayson Allen who is trailing Graham on the screen. This action by Bragg allows Graham to fill behind Mason's penetration for a wide open 3 pt shot. The Jayhawks showed some great Offensive sets in the game against Duke and this is just one of them. Spain ran this play on consecutive possessions in the last 2 minutes of the bronze medal game against Australia. On the first possession they were able to get a post up score for Pao Gasol (5). Australia denied the ball reversal the second time resulting in a layup opportunity for the 1 and a tip dunk for Gasol. See More

A great drill that simultaneously improves your team and individual players offensively and defensively is a series of 3 on 3 drills. Offensively, we work on dribble hand-offs, cuts, shooting, passing, catching, screens, and timing. Defensively, we work on communication and the different ways to defend screens. I also like this drill because it helps to reduce turnovers. See More

This play is an option in CHIN and called when teams sag in from the weakside to prevent the backdoor cut. The play gives an easy shot for the 3 against weakside sagging defense. The play is like CHIN with the cut on the pass to the wing by the 3 off of backscreen by 5. 5 and 4 double down on X1 for the '3' point shot at the top of the key for 1. This is a very effective option and can be run in the middle of CHIN if you see sagging defense. 4 cuts like normal and 5 fills elbow like normal then double down. REMEMBER: Backdoor cut v. Pressure Screen Down v. Sag GO is a quick call when you have executed CHIN a few times and want to change it up or to attack a particular matchup or foul situation. Call GO and the guard will pass fake to the forward. The pass fake signals to the 5 to come set a ball screen. The court is spaced for a drive/kick action with the 1 or a layup. 4 attacks off of 5 high pick and gets to the rim. If 1 defender helps then kickout for 3 point shot by 1. CHIN action and after flare by top player, the 5 will follow the ball and ball screen for the wing. The wing must attack middle on the drive. 2 can finish the drive to the rim or kickout to 1 or 4 for the 3 point shot. See More

Duke ran this half-court elbow set yesterday in their win over Georgetown. This is a set very common in the NBA and the Blue Devils do an excellent job with the execution. Grayson Allen has been the target of defenses early this season and this action puts him in multiple situations that cause the defense to be late and help the helper. See More
