Favorite Send to FastDrawWhen we see scout, we try to simulate the opposing teams actions in our defensive breakdown drills. This play has backscreens, and double stagger screens. These are difficult actions to defend when ran correctly. This gives coaches a time to break down these actions in practice. See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawLithuania ran this play today versus Croatia in Semi-Final action of the 2013 Eurobasket Champsionship. Lithuania ran some phenomenal actions all game but this was one of my favorites. Even though this play seemed to breakdown the players kept running the action to end in the pick & roll. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawBill Self ran this SLOB play for Ben McLemore last year with the Kansas Jayhawks. When teams blanketed McLemore on the perimeter, this was a good option for him to slip to the rim while the weak side help is drawn away by a downscreen. McLemore (2) is the inbounder on this play. Favorite Send to FastDrawUCONN Women's Basketball Coach Geno Auriemma uses this play on occasion to free up a shooter and a post for good looks at a shot. While the PG isolates and dribbles on the wing there is a lot of misdirection action in traffic near the paint. I like to think of this play a little bit like an off-centered Triple Screen that leads into a post cross screen. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawI figured with so many people doing one set and one drawing, I wanted to offer something different. After reviewing all four games of the Western Conference Finals between the Memphis Grizzlies and San Antonio Spurs I looked at actions that were successful and one's that didn't have quite as much success. I started with the Memphis Grizzlies. The play diagrams below are drawn for multiple plays with the play name titled directly on top of the court frame. These play diagrams are in order with the video you can find here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hYblZmLbIM&feature=youtu.be This way you can view the video and look at the play diagrams while the video is running. I hope you enjoy looking at the Memphis Grizzlies WCF Playbook. See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is the last counter in a series that the Dallas Mavericks used against the Miami Heat in their title run in 2011. Rick Carlisle does an excellent job of recognizing the strengths of the players that he has on the floor and taking advantage of those strengths. In this play sequence Jason Kidd is the (1), JET Jason Terry is the (2), Shawn Marion is the (3), Dirk is the (4), and Tyson Chandler is the (5). This set is a great example of getting your best scorers. Dirk (4) and Jason Terry (2) in position to do some damage. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawAnother action from UWGB out of Horns. This set has multiple ways to score the ball for your wing players reading screens. Plus allows the 3 man to drive off the downscreen with action occupying the defenders. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a play that we like to run out of our secondary offense to provide a post-up opportunity for our 4 man and a stagger screen for our best shooter. This play could also serve as a set, if you want to specifically get a post touch or 3, otherwise, it serves as good secondary movement into your motion offense. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawOn Away, 1 advances the ball to the 2. He will then begin to cut away from the ball. As 4 fills the spot vacated by 1, 2 reverses the ball to 4. 5 screens away for 3. 3 must take his man low and flex cut HIGH over the 5. As soon a 3 cuts over 5, 5 ducks back into the middle of the lane. The primary look on this play is the 5 as he ducks in. 3 should get the ball if open first. If 5 is not open on the duck in, 2 should screen in for 3. 4 then passes the ball to 3 on the wing. 2 screens across the lane for 5. 3's first look is to 5 in the post. After 2 screens acroos for 5, 1 and the 4 set a staggered double screen for 2. 3 should then look to 2 for the three point shot. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawIn our initial secondary break, 1 chooses to run the right or left lane line and looks to advance the ball down the floor to the 2 or 3 for an easy layup. If 2 or 3 are not open, 1 should look to the post (4 or 5) who has run to the front of the rim. If the ball cannot be entered there, 1 will reverse to the trail post (4 or 5) who immediately reverses the ball to 3. Once the 3 has the ball, he looks to feed the post for a layup. If that is not available, 3 reverses the ball to the 2 who has come off a staggered double screen by 1 and 4. 2 is looking for the three point scoring opportunity. If 2 does not shoot the three point shot, 4 may step out for ball reversal or set a downscreen for 1 which will get us into the majority of our offensive sets/series that we run. With 1 now in possession of the ball, we are able to go to our motion, flex, or fist series' as well as any of our specials. In this diagram, we will run 2 through to the right side and be able to run any of our specials from a 1-4 high set. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawLion is another of our 1-4 high plays. 1 can enter the ball to either wing, in this case the 2. 3 begins his cut across the lane. Throughout this play, 5 must work to get the ball so that his defender cannot help off of him. After 1's pass to 2, he screens down for the opposite post 4, who steps high to receive the return pass from 2. 3 continues through the lane and locates X2 as he prepares to set the back pick. 4 reverses the ball immediately to 1 who has broken out to the wing after holding his screen on X4. 3 screens for 2, who makes a flex cut to the block, looking for the layup. Again, depending on the game situation, we will take the layup if open unless we must have a three point shot. After 2 has cut through the lane, 5 and 4 set a staggered double screen for the screener, 3, who comes to the top of the key. 1 passes to 3 for the open three point shot. As with Charger, if x4 shows off the double screen, 4 should slip to the front of the rim. 2 should widen to the stripe if he does not receive the pass for a layup. See More
