05/30/2013Memphis ran this play at the 2:25 mark of the first quarter in their 93-104 OT loss in game three to the Spurs. After the reject of the ball screen, 1 dragged 5's defender out so 5 was wide open at the nail (midlle of the free throw line). Instead of giving Gasol the wide open free throw line jumper, Pondexters man rotated from the weakside corner to guard Gasol. Gasol reversed the ball to the corner for the wide open three point shot. This drill causes the offense to make reads or create openings while at a slight disadvantage of dribble two balls. 05/30/2013Play shown by Jeff Van Gundy. He got this from Scott Skiles who ran it with the Bulls with Ben Gordan as the 2. Instead of going 1-4 low at the end of quarters the down screen would start at 7 seconds. Depending on the coverage 2 can pull up for a jump shot or drive for a finish at the rim. 2 can drive and kick to 1. 4 and 5 can roll and replace. 5 can pop and 2 can use the throwback pass. 2 can also pass to 4 if 4's defender helps on the drive.
