About This Play/Drill

This is an attempt to scout an initial action that Marlyand will start their true motion with. They run a true free flowing motion offense which has very little consistent patterns, and consists of many off ball screens and various combinations of those.

This is a great offense in terms of the inability to scout it, and the constant burden of communication it places on the defense.

  • 5 pins down for 3 and then buries his defender for a post up.

  • 4 then sprints (arrive alone!) from the weakside to set the side ball screen for 3.

  • At the same time of the ball screen 2 sprints to set a cross screen for 5. This will set him up to come off of 4's down screen next. Again i'm not sure if this is organic, or a scripted action. You can see in the first clip 5 just seals his man off as 3 take it all the way to the basket.

  • After setting the cross screen 2 looks to use a down screen from 4.

This is where you must teach your screener (4) to shape up to the ball following his screen as he will be open if there is any miscommunication.

  • 5 seals his man up the lane for a great high low look that 2 shoots instead.
