This series of teaching drill for spread ball screen offense begins as an intro to the modern big tips of the running slip and the pick & go.

Forwards in line, first Forward does not have ball, the rest of the Forwards do

F1 runs at cone at nail then up into the ball screen. Execute a running slip. F2 passes to F1 for the finish.

  • F1 gets own rebound goes to back of the line

After passing F2 runs and cone and sets screen to other side (alternating sides). F3 hits F2 with pass and F2 finishes

  • Drill continues on alternating sides with F1 passing to F3 for the finish.

PHASE A - All about showing passable technique and angles THEN quickly LOAD THE DRILL.

We do not do everyday PHASE A drills!!!!!

  • Phase A POPS

Drill works the same for pick and pop

  • Phase A POPs continued

  • Phase A POPs continued

  • 2v0 Phase A

Guards have basketballs and the drill continues in the same fashion. This time guards are working in Phase A at accepting and using the ball screen and deliver pocket & hook passes.

Can also work 2v0 Pick and Pop.

Again, this is technique only. As soon as the technique and concept is passable, load the drill!

We do not do everyday PHASE A drills!!!!!

  • 2v0 Phase A cont.

    Alternating sides

Alternative... can go 2v1 with the guard defended and guided to either go over (=roll) or under (=twist) the ball screen

  • 2v2 live

Player 5 starts drill by cutting toward nail, defender is beside him/her. Player 5 sets ball screen.

Defense may show multiple ball screen defenses or be guided into a certain coverage to begin with.

  • 2v2 Live Continued

    Alternating sides

    Work in pops as well

  • 3v3 On a side

Load the drill further by adding guards to corners as well.

Guard in corner now has back action read if top guard accepts the screen and screener rolls

  • 3v3 on a side

    alternating sides
