Favorite Send to FastDrawOffensive Players line up at half court line X2 lines up whereever the coach wishes to create different angles and timing. X1 lines up at opposite free throw line Coach throws the ball to one of the offensive lines. X2 comes in to stop ball, X1 comes in as trailer to become help defense 1 for a score - 2 for a stop or Turnover Too much time on offense = TO play for 2-3 min each Could also make this a live 2 on 2 in opposite direction after score or stop See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is based on a lob play the Miami Heat run for Dwyane Wade. We added onto it when teams started taking away the lob late in the season. The secondary actions are excellent in late-game situations. It's critical that you teach 3 to cut hard off the initial screen, as most teams will deny the inbound to him and set up the back screen nicely. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawWith 10 seconds left in the fourth quarter of game 4, OKC was down 94-92. OKC ran this play to free Durant up for a drive to the basket which tied the game. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawScreeners need to head hunt and hit the shooters defender with a good screen. If the shooters defender goes over the screen the shooter should fade to the corner and if the defender chases on the screen the shooter should curl or straight cut. A good play doesn’t have to be complex or involve 15 screens but it does require the players to execute it the right way. Make sure that your screeners are head hunting on the screens and not just standing. This will determine whether the shooter gets a good look or not. This play is from the 2005-2006 Duke season. Favorite Send to FastDrawThis play was used eary in the game against Robert Morris and resulted in a foul down low as Okafor went up for a shot off of the hi/lo pass. Coach K does a great job creating an overload that forces Robert Morris to spread out and leave 1 defender on Okafor under the basket. Okafor seals the middle man in the zone and looks for the pass over the top. In the game, x4 could have helped on the lob pass but was stuck anticipating that the ball would be pass to Tyus Jones for a 3-point shot. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawUCONN's Geno Auriemma demonstrated this play this Summer at Coaching U Live in Las Vegas. This is a simple action that you get the floor moving early in the offense and keeping both bigs involved and creating hard to guard situations. As 3 comes off the pick, if X5 engages the ball and helps, a throwback to 5 may lead to a quick feed to 4. However, if 5 quickly shows and starts to get back, that is opportunity for 4 to come out and flare 5...4 has another opportunity to slip after setting the flare. See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawFor a catch and shoot player it is all about catching the ball in enough space to get his shot off. This play is good because it gives the shooter the option to come off the down screen or baseline screen. Giving the shooter options makes it a lot harder on the defender as well. Shooter needs to set his man up and not be predictable on his cut. Don’t let the defender dictate which screen you go off. Big men must head hunt and help the shooter get open by setting a good screen. This play is from the 2005-2006 Duke season. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawFirst completely "live" drill in motion offense teaching progressions. Once you have installed the four cuts, downscreens, shallow cuts and flare screens put the motion offense fundamentals to the test with this live drill. Coach is the passer. Player beginning the drill in the high elbow is the screener throughout the possession. Correct poor timing and incorrect reads immediately. At any time during the possession a player can pass to coach and the two offensive players set screening action. Empasize the second cutter concept. Coach can pass to screener or cutter off downscreens or flare screens. Coach can force rescreens by not passing to the action. Drill is run on one side of the floor at a time. Drill consists of action off of downscreens, flares, slips, rescreens, cuts. No excessive dribbling ball screens. Coach is always open! Use them and score with action. Put your roster in pairs with one screener and one cutter and play for 8:00 (4:00 on each side of the floor) You come into the drill on defense with your partner. To get to offense, you have to get a stop, rebound and outlet to coach. Rotate from defense to offense. If you score you stay and new pair comes in on defense. The drill begins with pass from high elbow (1) to coach. Emphasize basket cut into the downscreen. Variations/Restrictions: Instead of passing to coach, start with a shallow cut. Pass to coach, make a deep basket cut, wing fills the high elbow setting up flare screen. Only a second cutter (screener) can score. See More
