Basketball Play - YSU vs UWGB 3-2 Zone D

YSU vs UWGB 3-2 Zone D

Kevin Bruinsma 02/14/2015

The turning point of our game on Wednesday Vs. Green Bay was when Green Bay went to their 3-2 zone defense. This is their defense they go to when they need to change momentum or they are on the ropes. Unfortunately for us down the stretch it did just that and they were able to come back and win the game. They attempted to go to it earlier in the second half and we had a set play ready for it. We executed it really well and got an open 3-pointer for our best shooter. Because of our preparation and execution we were able to pull them out of the 3-2 early in the second half. The play design gave our PG a screen forcing the corner guy of the zone to rotate up and play the ball. That then forced Green Bay's center to sprint out to the corner to guard our best shooter. We created a mis-match. See More

Basketball Play - Notre Dame Motion

Notre Dame Motion

Dana Beszczynski 01/31/2015

The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame under Head Coach Mike Brey have been the surprise team of the year in the ACC. Brey's style is hard to copy as the Irish use multiple cuts and screening actions in their offense to score. In the game Wednesday night against Duke, this is the Opening Play they ran which really shows clearly how their movement opens up good spacing and the screening actions are so well timed to really force the defense into quick decision making. This was one of the most exciting games of the year and the Irish are moving towards a top seed in the NCAA Tournament come March. See More

Pearl

Alan Peel 11/22/2013

"Pearl" is a play that was taken from Bruce Pearl when he was the head coach at Tennessee. This is a four-out pick-and-roll play that has the center step out and set a ball screen for the point guard based on how the defense is forcing the point guard. Basketball Play - Horns Flare

Horns Flare

Kyle Gilreath 03/11/2013

Yesterday the Creighton Bluejays ran this Quick Hitter on their way to winning The Valley Championship and a birth to the 2013 NCAA Tournament. Gibbs and McDermott are probably as good a duo in the college game as Stockton and Malone were in the NBA. They do a phenomenal job reading each other on the offensive end of the floor. See More

Basketball Play - BLOB Elbow Double Stack Play

BLOB Elbow Double Stack Play

Basketball HQ 11/26/2012

This set was run by Marion Military Community College in the 2011-2012 season. This set is designed to get a lay up for your best slasher, or a three point shot for your best shooter. As your three man is coming off of the elbow double stack, he has to read the defense. If they trail him, he curls off of the double stack for a lay up, if they go under, he cuts for a midrange shot or three point shot. See More

Basketball Play - Power

Power

John Leonzo 05/18/2013

Here is a set that has been used effectively by Butler University over the past few seasons. The concept of this play is similar to Americas play, just in this set there is a stagger back screen set for the post as opposed to a simple cross lane screen. This has been a great set for Butler and hopefully you can find it to be effective as well! See More

Basketball Play - Racers PG Iso

Racers PG Iso

Dana Beszczynski 02/14/2014

The Murray State Racers have in Cameron Payne a Freshman with ultra quick footwork and the ability to breakdown defenders 1 v 1. This set utilizes that quickness starting in a 1-4 low set and using the wing man to set a screen on x5 giving the 5 man a chance to sprint to set a screen thus eliminating help. Payne reads the defender, rejects the screen and attacks the post side where he rubs his defender into the post and throws up a floater to the basket. See More
