Basketball Play - Stanford Diamond Special

Stanford Diamond Special

Randy Sherman 06/17/2015

In this diamond set, the cutter can choose which pin screen they want to use. The player at the top of the diamond exits opposite the cutter. Screening post then sets a cross screen for the other post. That player goes into an underneath ball screen with a wing spotted up in the opposite corner. Play of the Day 01-01-2012: Slip Roll

FastModel Sports 01/01/2012

1 passes to 4 then cuts to opposite corner off back-screen set by 5. After screening, 5 steps to ball for catch as 2 sets defender up for back-door cut. If 2 doesn't have back-door catch, 4 plays fake hand-off with 5 and then sets down-screen for 2. The read is for 4 to slip and catch quick bounce pass from 5 for lay-up as X4 is probably trailing and ready to show on downscreen for 2. 1 flares for 3 weakside to help keep defense honest. Magic Wheel

Adam Spinella 01/02/2015

Orlando Magic Head Coach Jacque Vaughn ran this play last season for Arron Afflalo. As the team's best scorer, Afflalo could decide if he wanted the ball in the pinch post for an isolation or coming off a screen for a three-pointer - his two strengths. The play was a read-and-react for Afflalo, who read the defense and decided where he wanted to score. See More

Basketball Play - "ELEVATOR"

"ELEVATOR"

Stephen Gentry 08/13/2013

2 takes it out with a box set. It is vital that 3 can get open without a screen or switch him and 5 to set up a screen. Once 2 inbounds to 3, 4 sets a screen for PG to get open on the ball side wing. 2 then sets up in the lane to get ready for screening action. PG dribbles toward the top of the key as 4 and 5 elevator door screen for 2 (decoy). 4 then slips to the nail for a catch and makes a read/decision. 5 drops to the lane as well. 4 can shoot it, pass to 5 on a high-low or hit 3 in the opposite corner if his man over helps.
