Favorite Send to FastDrawThis ram action gets a down screen set for a cutter to make a zipper cut. The zipper cutter then sets a ball-screen up top. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is a set play used by Notre Dame in the game against Stephen F. Austin. The Irish use a zipper cut/flare cut combo to get into a wheel motion. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is a nice 1-4 high set from Kentucky to get a scorer (2) into a pick and roll at the top of the key. The scorer gets open running a zippper cut off of 4 and catching the ball up top to then rip left and use the ball-screen. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is a zipper cut play used by the Trojans to get a ball-screen at the top of the key. The timing of the ball-screen on the catch is the key to running the place effectively. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawSam Houston ran this play when the game was tied against Nicholls State in the Southland tournament. Coach Hooten wanted to get a post up and used a zipper action to get his 4 man open in the post. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawDesigned for a quick hitter to fake a zipper cut into a backscreen. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis was a beautifully run set coming out of the timeout for Valparaiso. It presents many options, but if the backdoor cut from the flex screener is open, that is a high percentage look. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawStar players need space to operate and that is exactly what this set gave J.J Redick. The screen the screener action is tough to defend, especially when the screener is a deadly three-point threat like Redick. Because his shot was being overplayed, this set allowed him a nice lane to attack the basket. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Celtics run this set to get Isaiah Thomas a shot going to his left hand. Isaiah Thomas brings the ball up and passes to 2 who zipper cuts lane line extended, then receives the pass and hits the elbow man opposite him. He then cuts over top as the opposite big screens away for Isaiah Thomas going to his left (helpful because he is left handed), and the big with the ball hands off to Isaiah Thomas for a quick shot. Favorite Send to FastDrawThe only reason this isn't my number one set is because it is not as effective as the number one set, and it is not run as often. This is a great variation off of the "Fist Up Short" set the Phoenix Suns and Steve Nash ran against teams that hard hedge. Instead of looking for the big on the roll, the "Short" man receives the pass and then hands it off to a guard. The best part is the guards are going to their strong hand attacking the rim, Isaiah Thomas to his left & Marcus Smart to his right. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis was another great set to get an open three pointer. Having Marcus Smart pass to the elbow and do a fake handoff with Amir Johnson distracted the defense from the off ball screen Isaiah Thomas was being run through. This allowed Amir Johnson to make an easy decision by hitting Thomas for the open three. This would be a great set to run before ending a quarter or half. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis was a nice set coming out of a timeout for the Thunder to get Kevin Durant an open three pointer. While it was not the first option (Ibaka going across the flex screen for an open layup was), they ran the progression and Durant got the look he wanted. This set was also made better because of the solid screen Steven Adams set. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is exactly like the action the San Antonio Spurs run. Because the Chicago Bulls like to post up Pau Gasol and he is an excellent passer, this set works well. Typically designed after a time out, Butler cuts off Gasol who receives the pass in the post. Giving Butler time to clear the cut is key, so the timing of the lob/backdoor cut can be perfect. Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a set for an easy post look. The key part that is hard to defend is the curl action into a cross screen. Minnesota actually did a good job of defending it on this possession. However, teams that like to switch would have a hard time guarding this action because it would force the guard to have to match up with the post player. See More
