Basketball Play - Miami- Roll/Replace Action

Miami- Roll/Replace Action

Andrew Lacey 03/18/2016

Coach Jim Larranaga wants to play up-tempo and score in transition. This year they have concentrated more on getting the ball inside the paint more. Even though it has a modern day (4 Out) look it still has an old fashion (inside-out) approach to basketball. To execute this plan they use a variety of ball screen type action and roll/replace concepts. Having a very good point guard that can drive and shoot makes this tough to defend. See More

Basketball Play - Indiana - Pistol Flare

Indiana - Pistol Flare

John Leonzo 03/17/2016

Indiana took a page out of the playbook of many NBA teams by running this set early against the Mocs in the NCAA tournament. What makes this action so hard to guard is the quick timing of the handoff to ball screen, all while the offense is flying down in transition. See More

Basketball Play - Baylor Lob vs 2-3 Zone

Baylor Lob vs 2-3 Zone

Dana Beszczynski 02/18/2016

Scott Drew has Baylor in the hunt for a NCAA Tournament bid and possible high seed. This years Baylor Bears are currently 19-7 overall and 8-5 in Conference. This play is from their win against Iowa State. It was run after a FT situation for the Cyclones who dropped back in a 2-3 Zone. The backline of the Zone set-up rather high as Baylor did a good job with spacing coming out of Transition. Wainright cuts through the zone off the Fast Break and immediately screens the outside defender (Burton) of the Zone as Motley moves to screen the middle defender (Niang) as Prince makes his way from the ring towards the ring and throws down the jam off the pass from Medford. An exciting end of season play to spice up your Zone Playbook!! See More

Basketball Play - Utes Motion Action

Utes Motion Action

Dana Beszczynski 01/25/2016

The University of Utah Men's Basketball Team under Head Coach Larry Krystkowiak do a magnificent job of moving with and without the ball. This is a similar action to the Post-up out of Transition, but with a small wrinkle as Kuzma sets the down screen off the flare into a ball screen action. Utah continues to the move the ball looking to create the best scoring opportunity out of this set and consuming the shot clock, forcing the defense to guard for the full time. Utah runs some great sets and this is one of them. See More

Basketball Play - The Swing Offense

The Swing Offense

Coach Nick 12/05/2015

"The Swing is a four-out patterned offense with continuity. All five players are interchangeable, and spacing, screening, cutting and accurate passing are vital. All five players have opportunities to post up inside, and the Badgers often invert their offense and post guards. The offense is deliberate (Wisconsin ranks 333rd out of 351 in the nation in adjusted tempo), often with multiple passes and places value on each possession with high percentage inside shots, or free-throws. Unlike some of the recent, newer offenses that feature dribble penetration as their engine of point generation, the Swing offense is truly a “team-offense” that places a premium on good passing, screening and cutting." - Randy Sherman - http://bballbreakdown.com/2015/02/14/wisconsin-badgers-inside-the-best-offense-in-college-basketball/ See More

Basketball Play - 5 game like 3-point shots

5 game like 3-point shots

Marc Skelton 10/26/2015

A competitive shooting drill that allows shooters to compete against each other and to work on FIVE game like 3-point shots: 1) catch and shoot, 2)show-n-go, 3 )transition, 4) floppy, and 5) L-cut movements. Drill emphasizes being "shot ready" and proper footwork (the hop vs. 1-2 step). It is essential to track shooters. Bonus: if a shooter goes 5 for 5 he can go again immediately. See More

Basketball Play - 5 (Drag)

5 (Drag)

Craig LeVasseur 09/21/2015

Just like a regular NBA drag screen, this early offense action can occur just as a read and doesn't require a call. When running this action out of a Delay alignment, it immediately becomes a Spread P/R, making it a difficult cover in transition with shooters on the perimeter and no defenders in the paint to bump the roll man. Basketball Play - Golden State Warriors "Phoenix Double Wildcat"

Golden State Warriors "Phoenix Double Wildcat"

Gibson Pyper 06/01/2015

Same concept as the regular Phoenix ballscreen, the main difference is that two big men set the ballscreen early in transition. The best part of this set is the counter they run out of it, the first big (typically Andrew Bogut) dives to the rim and the second big (typically Draymond Green) sets a pindown screen for Klay Thompson. The Warrriors also run another option out of this and that is to have Klay be a screener with a big man setting the double screen. After the guard comes off of this, the big man turns and sets a down screen for Klay to get a shot out of it. See More
