Basketball Play - Japan (W) - Delay Slip

Japan (W) - Delay Slip

Ryan Nguyen 07/25/2017

Japan has been running this "Delay" action at FIBA Asia Cup Women 2017. 1 passes to 5 and screens down for 2. 1 fakes the down-screen and slips to the basket. 5 looks to hit 1 for a layup if she is open. If the pass is not available, 1 clears to the opposite side. 5/2 execute a DHO. As 2 receives the handoff from 5, 4 & 3 set a weak-side stagger screen for 1. 1 comes off the stagger screen looking for a shot. See More

Basketball Play - Horns Ballscreen Stagger

Horns Ballscreen Stagger

Evan Orzolek 07/01/2017

Real nice horns set run by CAI Zaragoza in the Liga ACB 2013-2014 season. This set includes a back screen, ball screen, and a stagger screen. I lvoe how this set forces a defender to guard two actions at once (x5). x5 is forced to guard the ball screen and the stagger screen simultaneously. See More

Basketball Play - France (W) - AI Double Spain

France (W) - AI Double Spain

Ryan Nguyen 06/26/2017

France ran this "Spain" pick & roll action against Spain in the Finals of the FIBA EuroBasket Women 2017. 2 makes an Iverson cut to the right wing then pass back to 1. 4 & 5 set a double ball-screen for 1. As 1 comes off of the ball-screen from 4, 2 sets a back-screen for 4. 4 cuts to the basket and 2 pops out after screen. See More

Basketball Play - Golden State Warriors - Double Drag Post Stagger Split

Golden State Warriors - Double Drag Post Stagger Split

Matt Wheeler 06/08/2017

The Golden State Warriors used this play early in Game 3 of the NBA Finals to get a look for Klay Thompson (1) off of a post entry action. It's a great play to get the defense to guard multiple actions and get the ball back in your point guard's hands for a shot. The double drag at the beginning of the play was a decoy action to get the ball into the post. After the post entry 1 & 5 set a staggered split screen for 2, who cut to the basket off of 1. 1 was getting overplayed on the screen from 5 and rejected the screen to go backdoor for a layup. Basketball Play - Golden State Warriors - Loop Stagger Split

Golden State Warriors - Loop Stagger Split

Matt Wheeler 06/05/2017

The Golden State Warriors ran this play to start the 4th quarter in Game 2 of the NBA Finals. It is a variation of the "Loop" play that they run, which Steve Kerr brought over from his time with the San Antonio Spurs. Normally 3 would curl around 5 to receive the pass up top from 1. In this play 3 curls around 5 to the FT line and 1 passes to 5 in the post. 3 & 1 then set a staggered screen for 2. 2 curls around 3's screen and cuts to the basket to receive the pass from 5. Basketball Play - LA Clippers - Stagger Pistol

LA Clippers - Stagger Pistol

Doug Brotherton 05/29/2017

This is my favorite BLOB of the 2017 NBA season. It begins with a double stagger, to get a catch. After the catch, the Clippers throw to 5, to initiate a "Pistol" action. The 5 does a dribble hand-off, followed by a down screen, and run to the rim. The 1 can turn the corner, throw back to the shooter behind the drive, or look for the 5 on the lob. See More

Basketball Play - Cleveland Cavs - Stagger Back

Cleveland Cavs - Stagger Back

Doug Brotherton 05/29/2017

This BLOB has resulted in multiple big shots for the Cleveland Cavs. They ran it for a Kyrie Irving three pointer, in the 2016 NBA Playoffs against Detroit. They also ran it, as an ATO, in the 2017 NBA Playoffs for a game clinching lay-up. The stack formation makes it especially difficult to guard, as the defense can not pre-switch any of the actions.
