Basketball Play - Boston Celtics "AI Attack"

Boston Celtics "AI Attack"

Gibson Pyper 02/26/2016

Designed to again get the player attacking to their strong hand, this set off the "AI-Iverson Cut" has options for players to attack off of. The first option is for the player to score and attack the rim, the second is if the defense collapses then look to kick to the big cutting off the hammer screen and finally a throwback set to get misdirection into a guard coming off a throwback screen. For the throwback screen it is important if the team "ICES" the ballscreen and you have already attacked the rim off the Iverson cut, then this will open up this counter even more, making it look like you are attacking and then throw it back for an open look. Basketball Play - UCLA Transition Offense

UCLA Transition Offense

Dana Beszczynski 02/15/2016

UCLA Transition Motion action. Great "Hammer Screen" action right off as UCLA looks to free up Hamilton on the wing. When there's no shot, the screener Bolden comes back to a SPNR action looking to post-up. Steve Alford does a good job moving the players around in his sets giving them the best chance to utilize their skills to score. See More

Basketball Play - UCLA Bruins

UCLA Bruins

Dana Beszczynski 02/15/2016

UCLA started the game off against Arizona State trying to get Isaac Hamilton (18.2 ppg) their leading scorer a touch early. Starting out wide and receiving a wide screen from Welsh, Hamilton works into a dribble flip action and immediately receives a ball screen as the defense tried to fight over the screen, Hamilton got in the lane to score on the floater. Basketball Play - Washington Wizards "Slice Stagger Spain"

Washington Wizards "Slice Stagger Spain"

Gibson Pyper 02/12/2016

One of my favorite actions is "Spain" action, which is my term for a backscreen for the player who just set a ballscreen. Randy Wittman has run about 6 different variations out of this concept, but we will look at the main one I think alot of teams could employ. Nearly every college team runs "Slice Stagger" action into a high ballscreen, and to add this wrinkle would be very effective as it has been for the Wizards this year. See More

Basketball Play - Dallas Mavericks "Flip Baseline Exit"

Dallas Mavericks "Flip Baseline Exit"

Gibson Pyper 02/12/2016

Dallas runs a great set for some of their stretch 4's and Chandler Parsons when they go small out of flip action. Flip action is the action in which a player receives the pass and then flips it right back to the player who passes it to him. After this initial action, the player who flipped it back receives a backscreen to the rim which is just decoy action. The big who sets the backscreen then receives the pass and hands it off to a guard on the wing cutting. The big then screens down for the stretch 4 who is under the rim to receive an open look coming off the baseline down screen. See More
