Basketball Play - Miami Sprint Screen Flare

Miami Sprint Screen Flare

Kevin Bruinsma 07/19/2013

Miami really utilized what I refer to as a sprint screen as somebody screens the screener before he sets a ball screen to eliminate the high hedge or trap. Here the 2 runs off a screen to go set a ball screen and then flares off 3. 3 dives right to the rim. The Spurs had to defend the attacking ball handler, a roll to the basket, and a flare. See More

Basketball Play - Miami Iverson Curl & Pop

Miami Iverson Curl & Pop

Kevin Bruinsma 07/15/2013

A late game set ran by the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals to free up #34 Ray Allen. He gets a screen from the 4 man, and then runs off a flare from the 5 looking for his jumper. The Spurs took away the flare allowing the pass to go to #1 Chris Bosh. On his catch then #34 Ray Allen went back door for a lay-up. See More

Miami DH Pin Down Reverse

Miami entered a lot of their offense with a dribble handoff. Here after the DH #34 Ray Allen sets up his man and runs off a screen looking for his shot. If the shot isnt there he hands right back to 2 or in this case #3 Dwayne Wade. On the handoff #3 Dwayne Wade gets a ball screen from #1 Chris Bosh with the entire side of the floor open. See More

Basketball Play - Spurs Screen The Screener

Spurs Screen The Screener

Kevin Bruinsma 07/05/2013

A very simple and common set that the San Antonio Spurs ran and scored effectively in the NBA Finals was their screen the screener action out of Early Offense. Miami began defending it by having their weakside corner defender moving up to the top of the key to be there on the catch, and allowing their defender to chuck the post player coming across the lane longer. The Spurs caught on and skipped it to the weakside corner once for a 3. See More

Basketball Play - Spurs Swing Ball Screen

Spurs Swing Ball Screen

Kevin Bruinsma 07/02/2013

I really loved this action used by the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals against the Miami Heat. They look for the quick curl for the 2 man, get a shuffle screen, then a stagger, then a ball screen. This play is packed with multiple actions for the defense to guard and puts a lot of pressure on the man defending the 5 man. See More

Basketball Play - Heat SLOB Elbow Catches

Heat SLOB Elbow Catches

Kevin Bruinsma 06/26/2013

The Miami Heat do a fantastic job of getting the ball to the elbow in pressure/clutch situations. Here are two plays the Heat ran against the Indiana Pacers in the ECF from the Sideline out of bounds to get elbow catches. One entry turns into their most successful play the FT Line Back Screen two man game between Wade & Bosh with Lebron having the ball. The other set was how Miami won G1 as Lebron had an isolation from the elbow. See More

Basketball Play - Pacer 1-4 High Set

Pacer 1-4 High Set

Kevin Bruinsma 06/14/2013

This is a set the Indiana Pacers ran against the Miami Heat in the 2013 Eastern Conference Finals. Looking to get their marquee player, Paul George a isolated post/wing catch the Pacers sent #24 George to the opposite side of the court before coming back hard to the ball on the reversal for deep post position. If #24 George couldn't catch the ball deep he moved out to the mid-wing area for a catch. This is where Indiana ran a great alternative action to get an even deeper post touch. #50 Tyler Hansbrough after entering the ball to George comes down the lane and sets a screen for #55 Roy Hibbert right in the middle of the lane, who now gets a deep post catch right in the middle of the paint. Basketball Play - 4 Shot Shooting Drill

4 Shot Shooting Drill

Greg White 05/27/2013

This is a great shooting drill to use in your individula shooting workouts or if space permits to use as part of your team practice. The key is shooting at game speed from game spots. The 4 shots are: lay-up, elbow jumper. flare jumper and transition jumper. The footwork and speed of the drill make this a great drill to add to your workout. See More
