Basketball Play - Crack Down Lob BLOB vs Zone

Crack Down Lob BLOB vs Zone

Matt Hackenberg 12/02/2021

It's baffling to me how often we would score on this simple play. We used it more as a BLOB special, about once every game or so. The less often you run it, the more effective it will be. The counter action, as seen in the diagram and in the embedded video, can also create some decent looks for your team, but that action requires more work once the ball is entered than the initial action. Basketball Play - 2-Up Press Breaker

2-Up Press Breaker

Matt Hackenberg 11/30/2021

This is honestly the only press breaker I've ever used as a coach. It's so versatile, working well against whatever style of pressure if presented. We don't have to have different concepts installed for man and zone presses, or softer presses and harder presses . The press breaker is built on proper spacing, allows for safe reversals, but also has options to attack up the court against any style of press defense. We absolutely roasted diamond presses using the sideline entry of this press breaker. I like having 2-up, as we had help to get the ball inbounded if needed but it wasn't as congested as bringing 4-up or 3-up agianst presses. The video below will absolutely break down everything in the diagram to be easily understood. Basketball Play - Miami Heat - Flat Ram Exit

Miami Heat - Flat Ram Exit

Dave Nedbalek 10/19/2021

This is a simple exit set utilizing a 1-4 low alignment. The clip included shows the set as designed but there are several other components I like about this set as well. With Morris (ideally Adebayo would be here) sprinting up off Herro's brush screen into a simple touch and out middle ball screen there is a component of rim pressure being applied here as well. The Heat do not, but I would lift our weakside guard (Strus) to occupy the tag and place him in a long closeout. You also have the slip, or post feed after the pinscreen for the shooter coming out. I like this set and it's versatility to create a high quality look with space. See More

Basketball Play - Boston Celtics - Stagger DHO

Boston Celtics - Stagger DHO

Matt Wheeler 10/19/2021

The Boston Celtics new head coach, Ime Udoka, ran this ATO to get Dennis Schroeder (2) an opportunity to use his quickness to attack the basket to create a play. Schroeder's speed comes in handy as he cuts off a screen and a dribble handoff to get the ball and attack the basket. Even though the Miami Heat switched the dribble handoff, Shroeder had too much momentum and was easily able to blow by the defender and create a shot for a three in the corner. Video clip below. Basketball Play - Atlanta Dream - STS Slip BLOB

Atlanta Dream - STS Slip BLOB

Tony Miller 09/28/2021

Watch the clip below as Coach Tony Miller uses FastDraw, the #1 play diagramming program for basketball coaches, to break down this baseline out of bounds set from the WNBA’s Atlanta Dream. STS action usually produces an open player, often the last screener. Here x4 is likely needed to show on the cross screen, leaving 4 open for an easy layup. Send to FastDraw using the button above.
