2 gets screen from 4 to inbound. 3 squeezes through pinch screen from 4 and 5 and ball is swung to top. 1 comes inbounds to the opposite wing for reversal pass. if 1 doesn't have a shot, set up the High-Low with 5 diving to low block and 4 shaping up to the top of the key. If defense plays behind 5, 1 feeds the post directly. If defense fronts 5, look to seal for the high-low. See More

The 8th-ranked Maryland women's basketball team bounced back from their first loss of the season to beat Virginia 68-61 on Monday night. Lynetta Kizer had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Terrapins (17-1, 4-1) in her first double-double of the season. Alicia DeVaughn added nine points, and she and Tianna Hawkins each added nine rebounds. Maryland, one of the nation's top rebounding teams, held a 43-33 advantage on the glass. The Terps also got 18 points off Virginia's 13 turnovers, while the Cavaliers capitalized for just nine points off Maryland's 17 giveaways. Next, Maryland will welcome Wake Forest (11-6, 1-3) to Comcast Center for a 7 p.m. matchup on Thursday. Today's "Play of the Day" from the Maryland Women's FastDraw playbook is a half court set designed to isolate players in positions where they can utilize their strengths to score. See More

3 comes off of a double screen on the backside as a decoy. 1 dribble penetrates trying to get to rim. If defense leaves the shooter 1 kicks for a 3. If defender stays home on shooter and 1 can't get to rim, 1 looks for 5 on the opposite block or 4 in the high post. 4 can hit 5 on the high-low. If none of these options are open, 4 and 5 pin in 3's defender for a skip pass. See More

1 can enter the ball to either wing, in this case the 2. 3 begins cut across the lane. Throughout this play, 5 must work to get the ball so that x5 cannot help. After 1's pass to 2, 1 screens down for the opposite post 4, who steps high to receive the return pass from 2. 3 continues through the lane and locates X2 to prepare to set the back pick. 4 reverses the ball immediately to 1 who has broken out to the wing after holding screen on X4. 3 screens for 2, who makes a flex cut to the block, looking for the layup. Again, depending on the game situation, we will take the layup if open unless we must have a three point shot. After 2 has cut through the lane, 5 and 4 set a staggered double screen for the screener, 3, who comes to the top of the key. 1 passes to 3 for the open three point shot. If x4 shows off the double screen, 4 should slip to the front of the rim. 2 should space to the corner. See More

4 runs in front of 1, trying to get in the way of 1's defender. This works best if both are going hard. 1's first look is for penetration to the rim or kick out to 3 if defender helps. If 1 kicks out to 3. 4 continues down to screen for 5. They use screening action rules (one to ball one to basket). Here 5 curls to block and 4 pops back to the ball. 4 catches at top of key and has the option of passing to the strong side or the weakside (may also look high - low). Here 4 passes to the strong side and screens "down" for 2. On all "down" actions the wing has three choices: a) curl b) back cut c) post. Here 4 passes to the weakside and screens away. Once again we have the rules that cover screening: one to the ball and one to the basket. See More
