VCU Over / Under Middle Ball Screen - FastModel Sports

About This Play/Drill

The variety of sets VCU runs in a single game gives their offense a chance to score on every possession.

What makes the VCU Rams such a tough team is their execution in the half court and the ability for their guards to handle the ball.

In this set, you have the Over / Under cut whch can be used to set-up your shooter or get post entry off the diagonal backscreen for the 4 man.

VCU also does a good job reading the defense with quick ball reversal, they are able to finish the set with a middle ball screen setting up penetration in the lane causing the defense to rotate.

  • Graham 21 (SF) cuts baseline off the block screens set by Shannon 4 (PF) & Reddic 15 (C)

     

    Brandenberg 11 (SG) cuts over the top to the opposite wing

  • Weber 2 (PG) makes the entry pass to Graham 21 (SF) on the wing

     

    Reddic 15 (C) sets the diagonal backscreen for Shannon 4 (PF) who has moved up the lane and cuts hard into the ball side block looking for a post entry pass

     

    Reddic 15 (C) steps out behind the 3 pt line after setting his screen

  • When the post entry pass is not available:

     

    Graham 21 (SF) reverses the ball to Reddic 15 (C) who passes to Weber 2 (PG)

  • Reddic 15 (C) moves to set the middle ball screen on Weber's 2 (PG) defender.

     

    Weber 2 (PG) uses the screen to peentrate

     

    Shannon 4 (PF) circles behind the defense looking for a drop-off pass

     

    Graham 21 (SF) moves up for a possible kick-out pass
