About This Play/Drill

In today’s diagram and embedded video we look at a fundamentals drill. This drill has no shooting. It's simply performing attacking footwork, getting to the jump stop, and executing a pivot. Change the footwork every couple minutes.

"Arch/Sweep"

Ingrains fundamental habits, most notably in attacking fakes and jump stops

The front player in the drill starts by catching the ball on a hop and executing a specified stationary move series (rip, go, step across, rocker, shot fake, jabs, passing windows, etc.) and then tries to cover as much ground as possible while power jump stopping. He will then use a front or reverse pivot (staying low through the pivot), faking a pass and then passing to the next player in line. We usually sequence 3-4 moves in a few minutes.
