Extra Pass Shooting is a drill that we use to develop chemistry within our team and really encourage that extra pass and better shot. Consists of shooting, passing, ball handling and rebounding - as well as progressions of decision making and reads.
Setup:
- 6 minute drill (3 min left, 3 min right)
- 1 min per spot
- Goal is 10- 12 per minute
- Ball doesn't touch the floor anymore than necessary
- Passer calls shooters name and the action
- 2nd passer will call for ball, and shooter will call EXTRA
Player 5 will attack the the coach standing near the block and throw the baseline drift pass as the coach uses his hand to make each player pass from different angles.
Different left handed passes
In the air pass
Bounce pass
Jumping out of bounds
After each player shoots they sprint to rebound and dribble around the coach. The coach will make them protect the ball and make a move to get by him.
Constant movement, awareness, and communication
Player 1 will attack the the coach standing near the block and throw the 45 angled skip pass as the coach uses his hand to make each player pass from different angles.

Player 3 will start with the ball, pass to the slot and quickly follow the pass.
Player 4 will quickly swing to the corner and follow the pass
Player 5 will step into his the pass and shoot.
Player 5 will rebound his shot as quickly as possible and throw the ball to the near slot.
Goal is to get up a ton of shots without the ball hitting the floor.

Coach stands in the paint.
Wing player will drive the ball as though he is trying to score.
Coach will slide over influencing the player to hit either the follow, the drift or the 45.
The first receive must then make the extra pass to the player moving into his shot.
