Switching screens can sometime lead to mismatches offenses want to isolate. "Going green" early on a mismatch isolation can distrupt the plan to isolate.
More from Radius Athletics:
5 sets pin screen for 2
X5 and X2 switch resulting in two mismatches
1 passes to 2 on wing with X5 guarding the 2
X4 and X3 move to Low I and Top I respectively
Wing Trap
If/when a mismatch or isolation occurs the closest player should recognize it and go green.
X1 goes green early before 2 goes into iso mode on X5. X5 and X1 trap 2. X2 fronts the low post. X3 moves to Top I and X4 moves to Low I.
This forms the helpside triangle. As the trap tightens and 2 becomes isolated, X3 can begin to anticipate the pass to 1
On the pass out of the trap, follow near man rotations.
X3 closes out to 1. X4 closes out to 3 on the extra pass. X2 rotates over to front. X5 sprint releases off the trap to 5.
