Various Wing Ball Screen concepts from the Oregon Ducks (NCAAw).
Check out the featured video below for a "clinic experiece" on these concepts!
Basic Wing Ball Screen Spacing
This is where the Ducks want to end up
Wing Entry
Player 1 passes to 2 on the wing then cuts to far corner or high wing
The trailer (Player 5) sets the wing ball screen for 2
2 may accept or reject
1, 3 and 4 form the reversal side and the Wing Ball screen construction
Keys: Player 4 stay at least over the lane line (The Seam). Do not creep towards midline
Dribble Push -
Player 1 dribble pushes Player 2 to the far corner.
Player 1 wants to drive the ball below FTLE
The trailer (Player 5) moves into the wing ball screen for player 1
Pass Reversal
Player 1 reverses to 5 and team swings the ball to 3
4 follows pass into wing ball screen for 3
3 may accept or reject
The same wing ball screen construction mirrored on the second side
1 advances with the dribble with an empty ballside corner, seek first to attack the rim on the open side
5 sprints to post for the two-man game
5 steps off the post into the wing ball screen
4 times their rise to the reversal spot
Four Out - Closed Post
The Ducks may arrive in four-out alignment with a closed post
they can use any of the entries from this alignment as well. Here is the wing entry to 2. 2 may enter the post and 1 clears the side for the two-man game
if no post entry, 5 would step out and set wing ball screen on 2
In all entries we end up with the same wing ball screen construction
