Another good 1/2 court set run against the 2-3 Zone by the Michigan Wolverines.
This set utilizes the ball screen as the 3 looks to get in the paint and force rotation situations from the back defenders
The Wolverines ran this set effectively and what makes this even more dangerous is the 3 pt shooting ability of Stauskas on the wing spotting up
The Wolverines start with 3 (Hardaway Jr. 10) at the middle of the FT line to occupy x5
1 (Burke 3) passes to 2 (Stauskas 11) and quickly receives the pass back
On the pass to 2 (Stauskas 11) on the wing:
5 (McGary 4) flashes to the ball side elbow
1 (Burke 3) passes to 2 (Stauskas 11) on the wing and clears to the lane line extended on the weak side
5 (McGary 4) drops back down to the strong side post
2 (Stauskas 11) dribbles across and makes a pass to 1 (Burke 3)
4 (Robinson III 1) drifts to the weak side corner on the pass to 1 (Burke 3) spotting up if x4 helps up the line on the pass
1 (Burke 3) dribbles across the top of the key and passes to 3 (Hardaway Jr. 10) who is lifting off the wing
After 2 (Stauskas 11) passes to 1 (Burke 3), he cuts into the FT line area looking for a quick pass - if no pass is open, he cuts out to the weak side wing
5 (McGary 4) lifts off the block to set a screen on x2
3 (Hardaway Jr. 10) looks to penetrate off the screen into the lane and depending on the defensive rotation, he has multiple options
5 (McGary 4) rolls off the screen looking to seal x3
4 (Robinson III 1) cuts hard baseline looking for a backdoor pass if x4 steps up
When x5 does not step up and reacts to the backdoor cut, 3 (Hardaway Jr. 10) has a pull-up jumper in the lane
2 (Stauskas 11) who is a very good shooter for Michigan spots up behind the 3 pt line awaiting a kick-out pass
