An example of "phasing" a drill focusing on a simple fundamental - the crossover step and finishing at the rim - and making it game like in the final phase.
NOTE: Phase C is omitted because it would look the same as Phase B excpet that X1 could touch either cone after the flip. Thus it has a live element for Player 1 would not know what crossover step to use beforehand.
Phase A
Player 1 makes a crossover step and finishes either with and extended layup or stride stop into a power layup
- Start with a "spin back toss" and hop into the catch facing the basket
- rip the ball and crossover step first and big with the left foot driving with right hand to the basket to score.

Phase D
Start with a flip from X1 to Player 1
X1 may then touch either cone, Player 1 must read and make crossover step attack with the correct footwork
Player 1 uses the small advantage with the intent of scoring. Should help arrive (could be live or directed by the coach) Player 1 finds the open teammate from where the help came
