QUAD Offense Breakdown Drill

4v2 Horizontal Passing 

Horizontal pass = basket cut

The defended players are live and can attack double gaps, receive passes on basket cuts and relay passes, attack when they are the dynamic player and have an advantage

In the final two frames the defended players are live and can make chest and shoulder help reads.

  • Player 1 and Player 2 start in tight slots and enlarge the defense to find spacing.

  • Player 1 makes horizontal pass to player 2

     

    Horizontal Pass = Basket Cut

     

    Player 2 may pass to Player 1 if the basket cut is available

  • Player 2 can recognize and attack the double gap

  • If player 2 holds then looks at player 3, player 3 blasts to single gap spacing

     

    Player 2 makes horizontal pass to player 3

     

    Player 3 can make a relay pass to player 1 who seals

  • After player 2 makes the horizontal pass, they basket cut

     

    Player 3 may hit player 2 on the basket cut if undefended

  • When Player 4 is looked at they blast cut to single gap spacing. Player 3 makes horizontal pass to 4

     

    Player 4 may relay pass to 2 who seals

  • Player 3 basket cuts after making the horizontal pass to player 4

     

    Player 1 blasts to single gap spacing when looked at

     

    Player 1 begins to read their defender as they rise

  • On the catch Player 1 reads whether X1 is inside or trailing

     

    Attack with a slot drive if the X1 is trailing, rip and go baseline if X1 is inside

     

    Player 4 makes basket cut, player 2 rises to single gap spacing when looked at

  • LIVE Phase

    Assume player 1 makes a slot drive and they read chest or shoulder help

     

    In the diagram above, X2 gives chest help

  • LIVE Phase

    2 cuts behind the drive for a TOSS

     

    2 can shoot or drive

     

    1 cuts after making the TOSS
