A good wrinkle with a lot of action. The corner downscreen stretches the defense, and the downscreen for a shooter will occupy backside help. One of the best with this action (ballscreen & downscreen) is Williams College. They really drill this concept and then have certain reads to make out of the next pass. One of their favorite actions is to then have the person who set the ballscreen turn and flare in for the 1.
Out of a normal secondary break alignment.
1 hits the trailing 4 man who reverses it to 2.
5 & 3 cheat over to fill the blocks.
1 fills ballside corner
2 passes it to 1.
5 backscreens for 2 all the way through to the opposite corner.
5 immediately ballscreens for 1 out of the corner.
As that action is happening, 4 downscreens for the 3.
PG's reads:
1)Drive it
2) Roll Man
3)3 coming off the downscreen
4) 4 slipping to the basket.
