In this diagram and embedded video we look at a simple ball screen concept. We used this when we had two attacking guards we wanted to keep out front, allowing them to create by using a ball screen or rejecting into the gap. We wanted to keep shooters in the corners as much as possible. For as simple as the cocnept was, it was fairly effective against good competition. We started to add other options to make the offense less predictable with the zip and DHO options. Video clips below.

"21": 5 follows the ball, sprinting to set a flat ball screen. If the screener's man shows hard one way, the screener can pivot to change the screening angle. Angle changes on the screen can be very affective. If the defense is not extended 5 should set a side ball screen.
"21" Zip: When 1 or 2 passes to the corner, 5 and 1 run a "Zip Cut". If the zip cut isn't open, 4 can attack baseline off the bounce or skip to the opposite guard.
"21" DHO: As usual, 5 follows the ball. Dribble hand off directly into a side ball screen and roll.
